If Peter never came back, then at least he'd be safe. Probably. And at least Topher would be able to check the news on his desk to make sure of that. Peter was busy saving the world, anyway. Whatever happened, Topher -- some random kid missing the guy who'd been his first friend ever -- was pretty insignificant by comparison.
