All right, so maybe after he wasn't in robotics the week before he'd poked around a little and realized Topher must have taken off. And maybe since then, he'd been taking the long way up to his room just to check the third floor. He wasn't, like, slipping notes under the door or tapping into the school security cameras' feed to search for Topher, so he figured it was probably all good and not at all stalkerish.
And it wasn't like he even knew what he would say. What did you say to somebody who reprogrammed you? Was just punching okay? Victor suspected just punching was okay in terms of his personal ethics ... but probably not in terms of the school's opinions.
Which was why, when he looked in and realized Topher was actually in his room for once, he looked so surprised. "Oh," he said, and crossed his arms across his chest. ".... hey."
