Spa at the Monastery, Room 2, Thursday Afternoon

In contrast to the past few days, Topher and Kenzi's room was now meticulously clean. This was because many of Topher's robots and wires and such had been thrown away and/or destroyed. KENZI.

There was, however, a fairly complex chain of wires attached to the TV, and three video game controllers set out on the floor. And there was a T-shirted Kenzi in the tub, a pajama-clad Topher who had dragged his mattress onto the floor in front of the TV, and a zombie-killing game on the screen.

Peter was sure to love this arrangement!

And then there was Peter, knocking on the door and wondering why he was wasting his time like this.

Oh, right. Because there were people in there who thought he was a friend.

"C'mon in, we're naked!" Kenzi called out. Then snickered and hung half out of the tub, trying to kill more of Topher's little people. "...die, die, die..."

"Doooon't!" Topher whined, firing some ammo in her tiny people's direction. "I mean. YEAH COME IN!"

So much for telling Peter there would not be video games involved tonight.

Peter opened the door, stepped in, and was... completely unsurprised.

"I told you I don't do video games," he pointed out.

"What?" Kenzi didn't look away from the screen, and told him, "We won't make you play. But you're missing out. AHAHAHAH I HAVE YOU NOW!"

"Nooooooooo! That was my favorite one!" Topher groaned. "Peter, c'mere. Help me wiiiiin."

He was ignoring Peter's wishes, yes.

"No video games," Peter repeated, taking a seat in an oddly clean place. "Is this all you guys have been doing all day?"

"I had to recover from last night. I'll go do Habitat things again tomorrow," Kenzi said, veering her little guy into a corner and hitting pause for herself. "Have you even left your room before now?"

"I have," Topher volunteered, raising a hand even though the question was not directed at him. "There's a science museum!"

This was exciting news.

"I had homework," Peter said. He didn't really care if they put him away as a big nerd - that just made it easier for him to keep working. "And congratulations, Topher. I hope you and the museum are very happy together."

"Honestly, what are you studying?" Kenzi had to ask, shaking her head as she unpaused her little guy and started shooting Topher's again. "You're always doing that. Unless you mean you're 'studying' politics, your dark mistress, again." She snorted at Topher. "Does Tony know you cheated on him with a public exhibit?"

"I am not dating Tony! You're the one who keeps saying he has a -- gaaaah!"

Topher fired repeatedly and vigorously at Kenzi's guy.

Absently, focusing on his very poor aim but still directing the question at Peter, he inquired, "Do you need a tutor?"

"No, I don't need a tutor, Topher," Peter said, rolling his eyes. "It's just more college prep classes, and stuff they're not teaching at Fandom. I'm acing them, but I do actually have to do the work."

"Where are you going to go to college?" Kenzi asked, concentrating on shooting shooting SHOOTING Topher's guys. "I think that target practice with Wes is paying off-- ahahahah -- yes! And the word is girlfriend. Although didn't you go out drinking with him, according to Radio?"

"I most certainly did not," Topher said with a hint of Peter's usual haughtiness. It was not a trait the world needed him to pick up, you guys. DO SOMETHING. "I just... wentdowntothespawithhim. And Ben."

Cough.

"You're a sophomore like me, right?" he asked, peering away from the screen and up at Peter. This was a mistake, as it caused several of his little zombie guys to die tragically. "Noooo!"

"Yeah, I am, and my parents want me going into something Ivy League," Peter said. He was wisely abstaining from the whole Tony discussion, mostly because it was starting to bore the crap out of him.

Seriously, you two and your video games and your obsession with interpersonal relationships. Let him never end up like you.

"Yessssss!" Kenzi dropped her controller and did a victory dunk, coming up wet and giggling as she pointed at Topher. "I win I win I win!" Then back at Peter, "So they're still existing?" She started climbing out of the tub, grabbing her huge hotel towel. That would be leaving with her, thanks. She had smiley boxer shorts and a Strawberry Switchblade T-shirt on over her suit. "The Ivy Leagues? Heh. And did you get another tattoo without me, Topher? Say you didn't."

Sophomore, junior, it wasn't like it mattered to someone not going to college.

SIGH. Topher sulked and hit the pause button, though he was fully prepared to demand a rematch.

"You should go to MIT like I'm gonna," he suggested to Peter, rolling onto his back on the floor and glancing over him. Sure, he slacked off in class and didn't give a crap about how well he did, but he was one hundred percent sure that MIT was the plan, yes.

"Technology is not really my forte," Peter told Topher, who was on a slightly more relevant path of questioning. "And yeah, the Ivy Leagues still exist. There's just a bit more of them, I suppose."

Not that Peter cared. He wasn't actually going. If he was going anywhere at all, it'd be community college, so classes wouldn't be a distraction from, you know. Taking over the world.

Kenzi got mostly dry and padded over to the fireplace, asking over her shoulder, "On or off?" Then adding, "I can't believe you guys are worried about this when it's almost three years away for you. We're on vacation. God."

"I'm not worried," Topher said reasonably, making a fun game of opening the cabinet under the TV with his toes. "Gonna get in, so..."

"And it's never too early to work on your future," Peter mused. "Too late, on the other hand... Really now, Kenz."

"I'm not even seventeen yet! And it's not like I want to go back to *school* after I graduate from this place and have a clean record when I turn eighteen," Kenzi said, starting the fire so she could get dried off faster. "I'll want to be going places! Italy! Brazil! Hong Kong!"

... yes, she'd just decided that. Shush.

"Gross," Topher evaluated, demonstrating his respect for other cultures. Oh, wait. "College, med school, doctor-ness," he outlined, pointing to himself, then pointed at Peter. "You?"

"College, law or politics, then picking a party to ally myself with, then political office," Peter partway lied with ease. "And how are you going to get the cash to go there?"
