Okay. The world was maybe almost over. Topher was more than a little freaked.

So out came the dice and the cape, and after making a quick annoucement, he set up at a toadstool with some character sheets for some pre-apocalyptic Dungeons and Dragons.

Kid had priorities.

"It's -- it's part of the game!" Topher sputtered, gesturing wildly.

"Says you." A beat. "What game is it? Candy Land? Because Jan is all about that shit."

"Dear lord. He's wearing a cape."

Yes. This was probably going to be the sticking point for the day. Unless you could fly or constantly referred to yourself in the third person, capes were generally a fashion faux-pas.

"Dungeons and Dragons! And it's really for ages, like, ten and up, so..."

"Why are people so concerned by this?"

Look, you played with a cape or not at all.

"Because you don't have the tights or ridiculous body armour to back it up," Jono intoned. In all seriousness. "It looks absurd without one or the other."

Jono had opinions about most components of your typical superheroing uniform.

"Four and up, huh?" DEADPOOL HEARD WHAT HE WANTED TO HEAR. "Count us in!"

"You can't be Dungeon Master," Topher informed Jono. Just in case that's what he was getting at.

That... wasn't what Jono had been getting at, no.

"Really, that was probably sitting somewhere around last on my list of priorities, mate."

"But... but I..."

WHERE WAS TONY TO INJECT SENSE INTO PEOPLE WHEN YOU NEEDED HIM?

"Dungeons and Dragons is also fairly low on my list of priorities at the moment," he intoned, mostly because... look, he still didn't trust that cape. He couldn't help it. "Tell me again why I should be playing games right now?"

Topher shrugged. "I dunno. So you don't wet your pants or something?"

Oh god. It was touching him.

"Character sheet," Topher instructed, pointing to the pile.

Because Jono had totally agreed to play, right?

Oh, to hell with it. It wasn't as though Jono was going to actually sleep tonight.

"Right. Right."

So help him, this couldn't possibly work well in his favour.

"... Are you actually wearing a cape?"

Yes, Topher. It was something that warranted a third person asking you this.
