Okay. The world was maybe almost over. Topher was more than a little freaked.

So out came the dice and the cape, and after making a quick annoucement, he set up at a toadstool with some character sheets for some pre-apocalyptic Dungeons and Dragons.

Kid had priorities.

Natalie gave him her very best unimpressed look. And it was a pretty damn good unimpressed look.

Later she'd be stunned to realize she'd used it over the stupidity of an entirely fictional person. Now, however...

"How dumb is she?"

In reply, Jono just held up that character sheet. The one with the three in intelligence on it.

"Pretty bloody stupid."

"Make her smarter," Karla suggested. "Rinoa did it with her charisma score when she found out I was prettier."

"I'm... pretty sure that's cheating."

And besides, he kind of liked playing the idiot half-orc. Not that he'd admit that.

"You so weren't prettier!"

She wasn't denying the cheating allegation. Just the root cause.

They were the bitchiest pretend couple ever.

"Tell that to your thighs in those hideous diamond boots!"

"You're just mad that your boots weren't that awesome," Rinoa sniffed. "Not everyone can rock diamond boots and mine actually gave me a Plus Two to Awesomeness. It said that on here."

"I'm sorry you needed boots to increase your awesomeness," Karla said sweetly. "Mine is all natural."

"Unlike your hair," Rinoa cooed.

"Can we fix the boat?"

"I don't know, how big is the hole? Can we stick someone over it? There's some bigger folks, right?"

"The Orc broke it, the orc gets to be the plug," Kenzi suggested. "Also, she can kick her legs like a propeller that way."

"Half-orc."

Touchy.

"... Right, then. Stick her in."

"Think of it like good exercise. Training those leg muscles for butt-kicking later."

"I have, um," she said, looking over her sheet. "Well first, I have an animal companion I didn't see before. And I have... evasion. Can I evade the broken boat?"

Yeah, she knew that was a stretch.

"What kind of animal?" Rinoa asked. These were important questions. "You should get her a dog. Dogs are awesome."

"It just says 'animal companion.' Maybe that means I get to make it up?" Could she do that? Were there rules here? Did she care if there were?

"It's probably the horse you left behind," Karla informed her. "Leaving it to starve and wander about the land, until she's taken by a cruel merchant and worked into the ground."

"I have a light warhorse and a companion animal, and my horse is totally fine," Kitty insisted.

"Psssht, do you have any idea how much a horse is worth?" Karla asked. "You leave one of those lying around and you know someone is going to take it. Hopefully whoever does knows better than to just turn her into glue or something."

"No one is turning my horse into glue!" Kitty said, probably more loudly than necessary. "I've decided so! But if you want to turn your own horse paranoia around on me, than whatever makes you feel better."

She was starting to feel bad about the horse, shut up.

"You should probably roll for that," Karla said. "Just to make sure. I mean, you did just leave your horse standing around for anyone who wanted steak."
