Room 307, Monday Evening

So Topher's room was what one might call 'aggressively unclean' at this point, and the extremely hyper and curious robot puppy running around was probably not helping matters. However, Topher had a very good cleaning strategy to prepare for coding funtimes with Victor: kicking the majority of his stuff under his desk, into the closet, or over towards the other side of the room. It was such a great strategy, he couldn't believe no one had ever thought of it before!

Once that was taken care of, he removed his drawer of inappropriate starches from his closet and placed it beside his desk for optimal snacking, set Broca II the robot puppy on his bed to "nap," and then settled at his desk and began looking up ELIZA applications to play with. Whee, coding!

"Well, everyone else got pets," Topher began. "But mine left."

Oh, Dave, did you think he was going to go on? Nope. That was the end of the story.

"So did mine, but I didn't make a bunch of robot cats," Dave pointed out. "... Not that I could."

"Nooo, you really couldn't," Topher agreed. That was sweet, Topher. "But it's so cute that you'd try."

"I didn't say I'd try. I don't know the first thing about building a robot anything," Dave pointed out.

"True again!" Not that Topher actually knew this for a fact. He was a judgmental, judgmental guy. Many might even say 'obnoxious ass.' "So we can chalk this up to a difference in skill sets! I made a robot dog, you sat sadly and longed for canine companionship."

"Not really. I'm a cat person, really," Dave pointed out.

"So you... don't think Broca II is adorable?"

"I'm not saying that," Dave said before finally taking a sip of his coffee. "I mean, I guess I'm kind of implying it...."

Topher boggled at this.

"You know he's made out of metal, right?"

GASP, DAVE. GASP.

"That's part of the issue. I don't usually find metal adorable," Dave pointed out.

Topher despaired of you, Dave. Which he expressed by throwing up his hands in astonishment.

"It's like you're an alien!" he declared. It was not like that at all. "But a human-looking one without any powers."

"Yeah, well just make sure your dog doesn't make a mess out of any of my stuff or I'll call in the mothership to take him away," Dave warned.
