Room 307, Tuesday Afternoon

In preparation for his portal tomorrow morning, Topher was cleaning his room -- no. Topher was organizing his room, and it was turning out to be a surprisingly horrifying process.

The thing was that he was, on the surface, a very neat person. His clean clothes were always folded because that's how the dry-cleaners left them and there was rarely visible stuff on the floor of his side of the room besides wires. However, that was only because all of the stuff that was on the floor inevitably got shoved under his desk or bed or into his closet so he wouldn't have to see it all the time. Having a mess was fine, but having to look at it was quite another. No, thank you.

Unfortunately, packing for the summer meant that he finally did have to deal with this mess, which led to situations like, for instance, Topher crouching beside his bed, squinting at the mess underneath it, and asking aloud, "Is that a shirt or a possum?"

He wasn't a hundred percent sure, and it was a rather alarming concern to have, so to avoid having to go near the maybe-possum, Topher decided to abandon his half-packed bags for right now and perch himself on top of his desk with his laptop in his lap, where he began modifying Broca II's code so that he could go check it out. Robot dogs were useful that way.

"Hey, the penguins loved us," Topher said. "I can't believe Tony can't afford them anymore. Now I have to become a billionaire and buy all our booze-night animals for us."

"I'm sure Tony will get his money back." Stupid Justin Hammer and his stupid face. "Maybe we should leave animals be for a while. And have our phones taken away when we drink."

"I dunno, the texting is kind of fun," Topher said. "I like to think of it as improving others' less-awesome nights."

Billy considered that for a moment. "It does have a way of making people jealous they're not having fun with us," he admitted.

[dollpocalypse]

"Chyeah," Topher agreed. "Who doesn't want to get drunk and make out with a superhero--" that was you, Billy-- "and hang out with wildlife?"

"I don't know if you could call me a superhero yet." Although, Billy wasn't going to tell Topher to stop outright. "Have I mentioned I'm going to miss you this summer? I'm excited for you, but still."

[dollpocalypse]

"I'll miss you too," Topher promised. "I mean, I assume I will, 'cause I can't tell the future, but missing you seems like something I would do, so... yeah."

That wasn't really a necessary clarification, but sure.

"And you're totally a superhero. You have way better powers than, like, anyone."

"Just remember that if you run into trouble. I'm only one text away and you know how attached I am to my phone."

And Topher didn't make fun of him, unlike Kate.

"Does that apply if the trouble is boredom and wanting to see gifs of people driving into curbs and stuff?" Topher inquired.

Billy laughed, and nodded. "Of course. Boredom is a terrible thing and should be avoided at all costs. It's my boyfriendly duty to protect you from it."

[dollpocalypse]

Topher laughed. "See, you are a superhero," he insisted, leaning in for another kiss.

Billy grinned and kissed Topher back. Really, how could he complain about that?
