Room 307, Monday Afternoon

On his way back from that stupid tent yesterday, Topher had stolen cushions from various couches in the dorm building, which meant that there were now several dozen pillows piled up in his bed. (Some were always there. Most of them, not so much.) You could barely even see the Space Battles sheets underneath all of them!

However, he was no longer eating ice cream. That was because ice cream tended to melt if he sat and ate a whole tub all in one go, which was really the only way he wanted to do it. So instead, he had moved on to cake. A cake that had come pre-frosted from the grocery store, sure, but now it had Funfetti on it too.

SHUT UP. HE WAS HUNGRY.

[[Closed door, open post! Was supposed to be up early enough to beat timezone suck, BUT SOMEONE BEAT ME. Whatevs.]]

Topher put down the cake on the nightstand, looking down at one of the few visible Space Battles logos on his sheets.

"Why'd he do that?" he mumbled, not looking at her.

Kenzi took one pillow out of the fort. "Because, as far as I can figure out, he didn't like that Peter didn't stop you from coming over to the kissing booth and getting your feelings hurt. And he thought Peter was being a crappy friend. Which he was. But he already got busted for it, so.... Anyway."

"Oh." That merited some more staring at the sheets, yes. "I didn't really figure that he'd... you know. Care."

WHICH WAS A DUMB THING TO THINK, TOPHER. This was Tony Stark you were talking about.

"He's your friend." Now Kenzi had two pillows. Fear. "He cares. Just... not like you do. That's all." She took a breath. "Peter deserved to get punched. And I yelled at him for this too. But now he's left, and I think that's a bad sign."

Topher leaned over toward the nightstand to retrieve his cake and take a bite. Around a mouthful, he asked in a mumble, "'s he okay?"

The point was that she didn't know, Topher. God.

"His nose wasn't broken," Kenzi told him, and then shrugged. "But if he's not here, I can't check, can I? It's not a big deal, but this is Peter. Sometimes he's a drama queen."

He wanted so much to not like Peter right now. But more than that, he wanted to know what the hell had happened. And maybe possibly see if he was okay.

But mainly that curiosity thing.

"Yeah." Topher was staring way too hard at that Funfetti now, yes. Finally, in a mumble, he wondered, "I mean. How would we, like. Get there?"

"That Portalocity thing. You can get us tickets to Peter's world, right?" Kenzi checked, hopeful. "I mean, I'll pay for me. I can do that." Although she might try to charge it off to Peter later. "Just think how freaked out he'll be when we show up!"

"Yeah, here," Topher said after a minute, committing a horrifyingly idiotic act and tossing Kenzi his wallet. "The blue one," he added.

There were quite a few credit cards in there, though he barely ever touched them unless he was on a Best Buy run. Which was why he had no clue what the card type was even called.

Oh, Topher. Yes, this would be all on your dime.

And if you managed to call Kenzi on it, she might not even lie about it. You gotta live and learn.

"Awesome! Let's get this done!"

Whatever. He had no clue what even happened to that card after he spent money with it. He'd never seen a bill in his life.

"Can I get dressed first?" Topher whined asked, glancing down at his Space Battles pajama pants. Then he rethought that idea and pulled on a hoodie, half-stepped into a pair of shoes, and took his phone off the desk. "Never mind. Fine, let's go."

Kenzi would've hugged him or something. But he kind of maybe needed a shower.

"Yes!" Time to track the elusive Wiggin to his lair!
