Warehouse District, Thursday Morning
Topher did not wish to leave the lab. Really. He was perfectly content to stay there for a good long while. Maybe get a hamster or something. He and Warren could live there forever and grow beards and learn pizza delivery guys by name (if the world didn't end and wipe out pizza delivery guys forever) and he'd learn all about wings and bunnies and hamsters and probably sleep in Tony's suit or something.
However. Supposedly there were things around town that were trying to eat people. So Peter wanted him to move.
And plus, it was probably a good idea to get a change of underwear at some point. And pizza delivery guys didn't get that stuff for you. Not that he'd asked, or anything.
But... lab. Cozy. Comfy. Full of tech that could possibly save the world. And it smelled comforting, like engine grease and Tony. And Warren was here, and and and...
Okay. Yeah. Topher definitely wasn't leaving anytime soon. He was just going to take two steps outside in the direction of the dorms so he could tell Peter he'd tried, then probably hurry back into the lab. That was the best possible plan, right? Right.

"How is it like shooting fish in a barrel?" Mr. Crimson asked.
"He is not a light source," Mr. Scarlet confirmed.
"Define 'unpleasant'," Ms. Amaranth added.

"Of course not, that would make him useful," she explained to the second.
"And just like this!" she retorted to the third, bringing up her hand to shoot them with an arc of Sapphire energy.
Except nothing happened. She stared at her hand in disbelief for a moment, shook it, and tried again.
Still nothing.
Well...fuck.

Ms. Amaranth also didn't look too pleased. "That is Against the Rules," she said.
Meanwhile, Mr. Scarlet was repeating the hand motion Karla had made, just to see if that was something innate to the human form after all and they just hadn't known.

And maybe start unobtrusively walking? Away?
"What are the rules?" she asked, trying to call in her sword, or her knives, or, Hell's fire, even a paperweight would do. "There's nothing about coming in and vanishing people away? Because that's both rude and a really stupid idea."
Yay bravado!
no subject
Nope. Probably not.
"Let's just go!"

"We are tidying up," said Ms. Amaranth.
"Who are you getting?" asked Mr. Scarlet.
no subject
Shut up.
"We're not getting anything," Karla said, nudging Topher along. "Or anyone. We're leaving."
She threw up a shield between them and the strangers. And was somehow completely unsurprised when they walked right through it like it wasn't even there.

At least the end of the world and the Auditors on their heels might make her slightly less likely to fall over laughing?

The body felt very strongly on this point.

The only upside she could find of this new situation was that she managed to land on some rocks. Which hurt more, but gave her some real, tangible ammunition to use. "Eat this!" she snapped, flinging two fist-sized rocks at the male who'd tried to touch her. As soon as they had left her hands, she was scrambling to her feet and running after Topher.
