Okay. The world was maybe almost over. Topher was more than a little freaked.

So out came the dice and the cape, and after making a quick annoucement, he set up at a toadstool with some character sheets for some pre-apocalyptic Dungeons and Dragons.

Kid had priorities.

"I meant the dog," Topher corrected him. "You, I mind."

TOPHER. NO.

Billy reached over to try to cover Topher's mouth with his hand. "I think he meant to say he's sorry for insulting you!" he said quickly.

Topher... had a hand on his mouth. Okay.

Though he wasn't exactly nodding in agreement or anything. There was a muffled noise.

"Please don't hit the socially disadvantaged guy. Even if he kinda deserves it," Kenzi said, looking sad.

"Why not?" Rinoa asked, folding her arms.

Kenzi stopped to think about it. Give her a minute.

Or two.

Okay, three. "'Cause violence ... something something something?" Then, "I said please!"

And Squall had such good advice going on just downthread, too.

Jono was not going to punch anyone in the face. Jono was just giving Topher very nasty looks with eyes that had shifted to blood-red in a blink.

"That so?"

Squall moved between Jono and the suicidal kid, and looked Jono square in the eyes. "Stand down!" he ordered.

Billy leaned over and whispered on Topher's ear as he pulled his hand away. "For the love of God, just say you're sorry." RED EYES, TOPHER, GOD.

"Jono, please," Karla said, reaching to lay a hand on his arm. "Listen to Squall. Topher's just an ass. You don't want Joni to see this."

"Or Mr. Moxy," Natalie added, since they were going the adorable kittycat route. "It's not worth it."

Squall. Squall was right there in his face, and Karla had a hand on his arm, and the idiot was begging for his life, and he was...

He was there, feeling like he wanted to grind Topher's face into the ground, while the world was completely gone outside. Here he was, with his hands balled into his fists and a snarl on his lips and some thing in his insides, practically singing in the rage...

Jono jerked backwards as if somebody had hit him. What the hell was he doing?

"Right." Deep breath. Stand up and take a few steps back. Close his eyes and shake his head and... "I'm going for a walk. Finish the game without me."

Squall watched him go, and frowned. The blue skin and new face had come with some serious emotional trauma, apparently. Maybe Jono would want to talk about it later. Right now, he probably wanted to be alone.

"Topher, thank us," Squall demanded quietly.

"Why?"

HE DIDN'T WANNA.

Rinoa felt that now would be a good time to interject herself.

"Squall just kept his best friend from maiming you, for being an insensitive, selfish child," she said. "Despite the fact that he doesn't like you very much, because it wasn't for you that he did it. But you're the one that doesn't have a shattered spine right now, so a little gratitude would go a long way."

Okay, Billy was probably right.

"I'm sorry!" Topher squeaked. "There is no need for murder!"

Just in case Jono was thinking about it. Which he probably was.

"See?!!" Kenzi said real fast. "Sorry! So Sorry! Sorry sorry sorry sorry!"

Then she reached over to poke Topher. "Learn from this!"

"I think our Dragon Master's a people person," said Kitty dryly.

Not that it's called, Kitty.

"Dungeon Master!" Topher exclaimed, appalled at her bad terminology.

"Or from this," Karla said, tapping Topher on the shoulder. And then punching right in his face.

Hey. You didn't waste punching permissions from Squall, okay?
