Room 307, Monday Afternoon

So apparently the squirrels really liked Topher or something. Two radio broadcasts in three days. Seriously, he pretty much wanted them dead or something at this point. They were horrible, horrible creatures.

But in happier news, he'd finally finished his Christmas present for Tony and he had Billy coming over in a little bit to play video games. Both of which were good things.

There was nothing weird about taking a few seconds to organize his room before Billy showed up, right? Like moving some of the garbage off the floor and all that and organizing the bags of chips and video game controllers all in one place opposite the TV? That was just manners or something.

"But it's kind of exciting!" Topher pointed out. "Plus it freaks out Dave's girlfriend." Which was always a win.

"Do you not like her?" Billy asked, taking a seat in front of the TV, at what he figured was a safe-from-sparks distance. "I know she's a little...well, perky, but she seems nice."

"But she kisses him on his bed," Topher said, making a face. "Like, on it. Right above the strobe!"

Oh, the strobe. His one souvenir of that one epic night of drinking.

"It could be worse. She could kiss him on your bed."

Yeah, that probably wasn't helpful, Billy.

"Did you steal the strobe? Or, well, I guess it's not really stealing after the place got bought out."

Topher's gaze flitted over to his bed and he shuddered. Dave could keep the crazy girl off his bed forever and ever, thanks.

"Yeah, I kinda did," Topher admitted, grinning. Whatever, he was friends with Kenzi. Theft was permissible. "It's cool to have, though. If anyone ever had a party, it'd be way better than bringing food or whatever."

"You'd almost definitely be the only one with a strobe light. That'd be awesome," Billy said, looking impressed at the idea. "It's still kind of weird to think about how there are parties here and guys like us get to go to them."

[dollpocalypse]

"It is, right?" Topher agreed. "And cool people go so that you actually want to show up. Not just athletes or whatever." A beat. "Do we even have jocks?"

"I think the people who spend their free time training with swords might count as jocks," Billy said. "But not really, since they seem pretty nice too."

[dollpocalypse]

"Basically everyone except the mohawk guy," Topher decided. Who was a special case. "It's weird, though, right? How the cool people here are smart and nice too?" Not that he was thinking of anyone in particular.

No, of course he wasn't! Billy totally wouldn't think of him either, just to be fair. "It's definitely weird. I mean, I wouldn't change things for anything, but I was looking around at the picnic like, trying to figure out who the mean ones were among the new people. I can't help it."

"Yeah, me too," Topher admitted. "There was this one short kid who told me to fix his phone who apparently no one likes. And some girl hit on Peter. But other than that..."

Billy still wasn't sure about Loki really being the Loki - he figured everyone was making a big deal out of nothing because it totally couldn't be him - but he smirked at the mention of Peter. "Is it a bad thing someone hit on Peter?"

[dollpocalypse]

"I mean, I don't know if he likes... people." Any people. At all. "You know. Hitting on him. Like that."

"Ah, okay, I get that," Billy said. Not personally, because he'd die of glee if anyone hit on him, but he understood in general. "Did you meet anyone interesting at the picnic?"

[dollpocalypse]

"Mostly just the phone guy," Topher said, shrugging. Loki was sure to love that nickname. "And some weird vegetarian chick. You?"

"Tara said her little sister ended up here accidentally. Like, she came through a portal and was just here, without warning," Billy said. "That has to have sucked."

[dollpocalypse]

"At least she has her sister here too?" Topher offered. "Or, oh, do you mean the assigned sibling thing?"

Billy smiled and nodded. "Yeah, when you help someone who just got here get adjusted. Warn them about the gremlins and the vice principal and waking up as a little kid and stuff."

[dollpocalypse]

Topher snapped his fingers. "I should've said that!"

Poor Stacey. Poor, poor Stacey.

"Should've said that to who?" Billy asked, his eyes going wider with realization. "Wait, did you have a little sibling?"

[dollpocalypse]

"Sadly, yes." Poor, poor Stacey. "I don't think she likes me."

A beat.

"Or penguins."

[selfhelphero]

Billy tried to make a sympathetic face, but it might have looked more concerned for Topher's poor, poor sibling. "You told her about the penguins though? That was helpful. Who knows if they'll come back," he said optimistically.

[dollpocalypse]

"I knoooow," Topher agreed. "I missed them! They were here and I wasn't and Tony told me about it after and now they totally have to come back!"

Topher just really, really liked penguins, okay?

"What would you have done with the penguins if you'd been here?" Look, Topher liked to experiment with things, so it seemed like a good question to ask, for future reference involving adorable animals.

"Hung out with them! And stuff." Such a nerd. Suuuuch a nerd. "Did you see them? Were they awesome?"
